To reduce carbon emissions into the environment, some of the conventional Synchronous Generations (SGs) in power systems are being replaced by Photovoltaic (PV) generations. Absence of inherent rotational inertia, power electronic interface, and the control distinguish the dynamics of PV generations from the dynamics of SGs. The differences in the dynamics of PV generations with respect to SGs throws up new challenges to power system transient stability. The transient stability analysis methods of SGs which utilize swing equations and the equal area criterion may not be applicable to the PV generations. This research work is focused on developing novel transient stability assessment methods for power systems with PV generations.
