The research work is supported by sponsored projects from many government agencies (such as DST, DOE, MHRD, MIT, ISRO, DRDO etc.) as well as many private industries (such as General Motors, General Electric, Nokia, Philips, Integra, ABB). The faculty members also collaborate with researchers in many industrial labs as well as academic institutions to pursue interdisciplinary topics. The department has also been actively involved in consultancy projects for industries. The department has many specialized laboratories to impart advanced training to research students.
